Community Works Programme (CWP) – This programme was initiated in partnership with the Department of Cooperative Governance. This was an initiative designed to provide an employment safety net, by providing participants with stipend based on predictable number of days of work per month- thus supplementing their existing livelihood activities and affording them a basic level of income security through work. The programme is targeted at unemployed and/or underemployed people of working age. This programme was implemented at community sites designed to employ a minimum of 1000 people per site for two days a week or eight days a month. REC implemented the CWP in Flagstaff, Bizana and Lusikisiki with a total number of 4120 beneficiaries for the period of 2013 till 2015
