Aims and Objectives

The Regional Educare Council has witnessed the strife of the marginalised pre Grade R learners and the ECD practitioners in the rural parts of Eastern Cape for over 23 years. It is our passion to uplift the quality of education through Early Childhood Development initiatives that seek to promote conditions of care education, socialisation and job creation in our communities so as to enhance and stimulate the children’s total development stage.

To assist marginalised women and youth of the Eastern Cape by offering them with an accredited training programme in Early Childhood Development. Statistics demonstrate that children who attend an ECD centre are miles apart in term of educational capacity compared to those who don’t. ECD is often neglected in rural areas. Other benefits of training ECD practitioners include:

  • Improved high school completion rate for learners
  • Improved high school pass rate
  • Improved parent-child/teacher-child relationship
  • Increased earning potential and economic self-sufficiency as an adult
  • Increased female and youth labour force participation, through the placement of trained and qualified ECD practitioners by the Department of Education through school governing bodies. After the training for ECD qualification, the ECD practitioners are eligible for full time employment with the Department of Education. This qualification adds so much value to the advancement of the careers of ECD practitioners since the Department of Education has since made this to be a pre-requisite certificate for a position of ECD practitioner in all schools with Grade R.
